About us

More than just a school

"The teachers at SMHS are like my parents. They understand the challenges we face so teach,
help and guide us with a lot of love and patience. The school's many extracurricular activities
help develop our confidence and the school trips provide us with an opportunity to enjoy and
learn at the same time. "

Shazina

I was happy to have the Homework Club and Summer Camp. They helped me get the top exam results in SMHS so far. I want to be a Doctor so I've enrolled on a Pre-Medicine course.  I'm very grateful to SMHS.

Empowering Girls

“There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen. There is a great rivalry and competition between the two. There is a third power, stronger than the two; that of the women”

Our History

_N3A5833

The Swiss Education Project Pakistan (SEPP) was founded in Basel in 1997.  The association was formed by Dr. Dorothea Roth and a group of her close colleagues. In April 1999, the SMHS (Swiss Model High School) in Lahore was opened by a former Pakistani refugee as a politically and religiously independent co-education primary school.

Through the school, the aim of SEPP is to provide the under privileged children in Lahore, Pakistan with an education. SEPP is particularly focused on empowering girls, via education, to break the cycle of poverty.  This principle extends to the staff, where the mainly female teachers are provided with an income and ongoing development.
